The Tennessee River and Me

Yesterday I took a break and sat by the Tennessee River. The spot is beautiful with a slight bend just down the way outlined with hills. The sky was that perfect blend of blue between baby blue and azure with white cottony clouds accenting in between. The grass was a vibrantly emerging spring green and the wind lightly blew around me rustling the new leaves on the trees. Birds whistling a happy tune announcing the day's beauty.

Everything inside swirled and percolated as I sat like a princess right in the middle of the pristine. The exact place I needed to be at that moment. Worry and anxiety surrounded but this was my semicolon; my place of peace to breathe and restore.

My way of sitting in the middle of time and God's presence. The river flowed carrying my time. It's been there since the beginning and will be there in the end. Yet, it's constantly flowing and shifting. Life entraps us making us think nothing will change. Invites hopelessness and despair. Then the river waters flow reminding us that life is constantly moving and change is always right around the next bend.
