The Purpose of Mascara

Right now, you may be thinking, "Duh, to lengthen and darken lashes!" If that's your first thought you are absolutely right. I know that's why I grab for it every weekday as the last application to my make-up. It just hit me different today because I found two tubes in my make-up drawer. Which is weird, because I normally keep the current tube in the drawer until I squeeze it dry then open the new one. Unless, I accidentally tossed the waterproof tube that I use for water sports in there. Highly unlikely, though.

As I pulled them both out, I inspected both tubes and neither was waterproof. Hmmm, I knew one was getting low so I realized I must have opened the new mascara and not thrown out the old one. In that case, I should be scraping the side of the one that is dried up and irrelevant. What could possibly be its purpose now other than to confuse me every morning? Nothing. Suddenly it came to me that I was struggling to get even a drop of black liquid out of one of them last week. Oops! Time to weed the bad one out. To separate the good from the bad I will have to conduct a comparison so I can trash the empty one.

If you know me by now, you know I got an analogy out of that. Immediately the scripture of the separation of the sheep and goats came to me. Don't know the exact reference offhand but pause and I will be right back with the scripture and verse. I'm back (that was quick), here it is:

After reading that, all I can say is I hope I'm the relevant sheep that gets put on the right and don't get trashed as the empty one. Got to keep my purpose sharp. As for my make-up, I know one tube of mascara that will be removed from my life very soon!
