Snoopy Dance, Total Elation

Anyone who has ever watched Charlie Brown knows all about Snoopy. The loveable little beagle who has the intellect of an adult. He flys a warplane, designs elaborate endeavors, and has a one-of-a-kind happy dance.

I would title his dance, "Total elation." He throws his head back in blind euphoria. What stands out is his smile and his wiggling toes and fingers. Have you ever been that happy? I have. In spurts.

Can you make yourself happy? I'm not sure, but I'd like to figure it out. I've lived a life expecting to find happiness in other people. That is outrageously unfair, but it's an ugly truth about me. And I know it's time for change.

It's time to ask myself some digging, invasive, provoking questions. It's the only way to get the answers I need. What. Makes. Me. Happy. Yet, it can't be the events that bring spurts of happiness. I mean true overall happiness.

Britannica.com says happiness is, "...a state of emotional well-being that a person experiences either in a narrow sense, when good things happen in a specific moment, or more broadly, as a positive evaluation of one’s life and accomplishments overall—that is, subjective well-being."

So how do I get there? That "subjective well-being"? I wish I would have an epiphany right now and write it down for you. Until that revelation comes or I logically solve for "X", I will choose today's happiness. What does that look like? Making other people smile. I love people. And I love God, I think He's my overall "subjective well-being". That's all I need to know today. I hope you find your subjective well-being too :-)
