Seen a Scene

My early morning rides to work are usually pretty uneventful. Routine, mostly. I drive the same speed as the slowies in the right lane. I cruise behind them because I know the merge is just ahead and I don't want to have to fight my way in. The younger me would have blew past all the slowies and at the first chance, pushed my way into one of the first three cars in the lineup.

Today was different. I'm always open to a creative display to start my day off right and that's exactly what happened. I rounded a corner and a cottony fog hung low covering an open field that normally touts green. The scene immediately translated me to my favorite rendition of Pride and Prejudice (2005) with Keira Knightley.

It's the most romantic part of the movie to me. The protagonist, Lizzie, is wandering in a field in the early morning hours and she turns to see Mr. Darcy cutting through the low fog with long strides. His tall frame almost galloping toward her with his long coat flapping in the wind of his gait.

Finally, their love appears through the fog of confusion with piercing clarity. They know. They both know. And they're finally ready to surrender to it and let it take over. Beautiful moment. Don't we all long for that moment? To turn and see our love almost running to us brimming with desperate longing? I know I do. Great way to start the day. It was like (forgive my grammar) I seen my favorite movie scene in living color. A stage that I could mentally fill in with a vision of me and my love.
