Poetry Reading - Nichole Simmons

Good morning blog world! Do I have a treat for you today. I'm so excited to showcase the first Poetry Reading on my blog. We'd love to get some traction, so if you enjoy these, please forward, forward, forward!

The new poet? Nichole Simmons. Nichole shared many of her heartfelt poems in our writing group who self published the book Cracked Light. Here is the epiphany she sent in our group text yesterday:

My brain is spiraling faster and faster

• Right into disaster

• Must stay on track

• because it seems no one truly has my back

• Exhausted from trying to explain it all

• I’m slowly watching myself fall

• It is such a real feeling

• Difficult to deal with while I’m healing

• I need Rest

• To give my Best

• I’m done taking what someone says to heart

• Over here taking out the last deep dart

• I’m not going to give back heat

• Because honestly, I’m just too beat

• Gonna slow down

• Enjoy this town

• I wanted to come here for years

• Maybe it was only to release these built up tears

• Either way, I am here, raw and real

• Ready to stand still and completely heal

• Not just for a day…

• But everyday. However, not my own way

• How then? You say

• GOD’S WAY!

• Determined to find PEACE

• And make the devil’s negativity cease

• During this time, I won’t be by myself

• Or with a little Christmas Elf

• But with our Living God

• Who is not a Fraud

• Now I gladly take the yoke Jesus has to offer

• So my soul can rest and I can become softer

• For my burden shared is halved with him

• And I can finally see the light even if it is very dim

•
