Journal Power

It's been a tough week for many people I know. In fact, a couple of friends were nearly manic trying to work through their feelings. It's tough with multiple thoughts swirling through your head at the speed of light. How do you manage that?

For me, it's journaling. There's something about when that pen hits the paper. Then the truth comes out. The raw, unfiltered, unforgiving truth. When I'm letting my real feelings leak out, they can't be disputed by anyone; not even me.

The writer in me emerges when I gather those leaked words and spin them in an artistic expression. But as far as the journaling goes, anyone can do it! It's not about perfection or fancy words. It's about wringing your heart and letting the tears squeeze out and dribble on the lines.

A heavy heart gets lighter in seconds when I let the yuk inside gush out. It's more about therapy, not perfection. That's what I advised a friend to do, and it worked. I think the word journaling is intimidating because it suggests writing. But it's not. It's a release of feelings. Give it a go and set your heart free.
