In Your Own Corner

I have a friend (and you know who you are!) who is really a force to be reckoned with. Man I look up to her! She is a natural born fighter and doesn't let anyone back her down. To me, she's the perfect example of being in your own corner.

She doesn't wait for anyone's permission to better herself. She simply decides what's best for her and her family, plots it out, and goes for it. Sometimes her bravery costs her too. It costs her peace and acceptance, but she still follows her own heart.

I can't think of a better way to be. Otherwise, you will be led around by the whims of others. I'm tired of being that person. I want to go for gold for me. Stand in my own corner. I know every day is different and there are ups and downs.

But I have to keep going, even if it's just despite the crap life is throwing at me. Sure, my confidence takes a hit, but somehow I keep getting back up. Today I've got to dig deep and find that. That sheer will to keep going. To stand up and square off with life. I only get one, I better make it matter.
