Flyaway Moment

Scrolling through social media this morning, I saw a picture and was instantly transported. The page was for Scotland. There was a picture of a medieval castle mounted on the top of a hill. In the valley below, there were trees dotted with beautiful fall leaves in red and orange.
Fall is my favorite time of year anyway, but couple that with a castle on a green hill and that's the perfect combination for a flyaway moment. Before I knew what was happening, my mind was in that picture flying to magical places.
It was weird how fast it happened and how real it felt. Like I was back in Edinburgh walking the Royal Mile. The beauty of the country did such a number on me I even wrote a love story with the Traquair House, south of Edinburgh, as the setting.
When I was young, there was a commercial for a bath powder called Calgon. In the commercial, a stressed woman has an overwhelming moment and begs, "Calgon, take me away!" That's kind of how I felt this morning. The happy feeling transported me off my leather chair into Edinburgh. Okay, not really. I don't want to get too weird. Yet, it was a happy few seconds of remembering and wondering.
Maybe it's weird. Maybe it's not. But I liked it. I want more of those. I wonder if it's a place in time where we are reunited with our dreams? I know one thing, it definitely declares what's buried in your heart. I hope I have lots more flyaway moments so I can figure out how to chart the rest of my life. Next thing you know I'll be saying, "Scotland, take me away!"
