Between Voices

If they're honest, I think most writers would admit to hearing voices while they're writing. Whether it's their own doubts, something someone else said, or what society says. The true champions get past these thoughts. They are the ones who want it bad enough to find a way to work past negativity.

How do you do that? Embrace your passion and hold on for dear life. Honor your gift. Ignore the voices and keep writing. This is your area. There are many other areas that will feel like Greek to you, but not here. This is where you belong.

If you keep writing, you will hit that sweet spot too. Since 2009, I have been transitioning from journalist to novelist. It has not been easy with holding a 9-5er, being a single parent, and holding down the fort at home. But I haven't quit. I have stayed in the fight.

All these years I have heard the voices in between telling me to quit. I'm not good enough. If I haven't figured it out by now maybe, it's over for me. But I refuse to quit. I love to write, I crave it, I need it and will never quit. I am staying in the fight and writing on. My passion overrides the voices. Easier said than done but it is possible. I'm living proof.
