Today my neighbor waltzed over and rang the doorbell like any other day. He's a talkative fella so sometimes I dread being cornered by him. I'm so glad I ignored my selfish side and opened that door to hear his news. His wife died last week and I didn't get to say goodbye. He nor I knew she was in such bad shape. This is for her.

A swoosh of wind blew by
it captured my teary eyes.
It was like you were there
with your red curly hair.
Your song floated in the wind
through a hidden feathered friend.
Makes me feel good to know
you're out of pain in your new home
and I plan to see you again
'til then I'll listen for you in the wind.
